In Person!

I love technology! This being said, let it be known that email, Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Pintrest, dare I throw in the very dated site MySpace, and any sites I have neglected to mention, do not take the place of "in person" communication!  Let me define "in person":  Communication that takes place in person, face to face, reach out and touch it, face to face, although Skype might be acceptable in long distance situations.  Other forms of personal communication are, God forbid, a handwritten note or letter, yes correspondence with a stamp and US Postal delivery ( we could save a few American jobs here), and last but not least a phone call, not a text message! It seems that these popular forms of communication have come to define a "friend",  "follower", and sadly enough "family".  Although I appreciate these  connections, they are not equivalent to an organic/old fashioned relationship!! Please continue to post to your preferred media website, but please pick up the phone, call someone, write them a sweet note and put it in the mail, or as Bacardi says, "make a status update in person"!!

Ice Cream Fun!

Put 1 cup of Half and Half, 2 tablespoons of sugar,
and 1 teaspoon of vanilla flavoring
in a quart size Ziploc freezer bag
You can choose other flavors
and add food coloring for extra fun

Take a gallon size Ziploc freezer bag and fill half way with ice
then add 1/2 cup of salt ( we used canning salt).
Put the bag with liquid mixture inside the gallon bag and seal.
We put on glove to protect our hands from the cold,
you can also wrap the bag in a towel.
Toss the bag between your hands for 6 to 8 mins.
To help the time to pass put on a favorite song
and dance and shake the bag at the same time!
Take the quart size bag out of the gallon bag
and wash the ice and salt off the outside of the bag.
Open the quart size bag and be amazed at your creation
It's yummy. Try it, you will like it too!

Tucker's Guy-key

When Lindsay Ann was a baby my mom took a cloth diaper and added some white and pink lace to the ends and gave it to Lindsay Ann to use as a security blanket. Lindsay Ann loved her security blanket and carried it every where. My mom and I referred to it as the "diaper" as soon as Lindsay Ann could talk she translated "diaper" as "guy-key" don't ask me how, but I have had friends tell me they have heard it translated the same. After learning to sew I made little quilts for girls as their "guykeys. So with Lindsay Ann expecting my first grandchild it was time to make guykeys for a new generation. I chose to make the guykey out of the boxer shorts Eric had given me to make his stocking and cuff for Kendall. Below are the steps I took in creating this gift for my grandbaby.

Eric's boxer shorts after I cut away unusable parts

Making the the squares

Laying out the design, its like putting a puzzle together
Kendall helped me with this, its harder than you think.

Top pieced together

The underside is soft white minky fabric and I bound it with satin.
I wanted all the feel good fabrics I could incorporate.

Lindsay Ann and Eric loved it!

Honey or Hunny

I'm taking votes! I chose the name "Honey" because I wanted a name that all the "grandchildren" like people in my life and my biological grandchildren could both use. I have spelled it H-O-N-E-Y in the past, but recently Lindsay Ann spelled it H-U-N-N-Y and I thought it was cute. This spelling was also significant because one of the reasons I picked this name was because of Leslie and Aidan; she is a huge fan of Winnie The Pooh and that is how it is spelled in his story.  I would love your opinion!
