Weekend

Friday night Kendall had a wrestling tournament at Whitewater High School that lasted until midnight. If I haven't already mentioned it Kendall is 1 of 4 wrestling team managers. They work the time clock for the matches and other assorted duties.

Saturday morning Kendall returned to Whitewater for the rest of the tournament, McIntosh placed several times. Kendall said the parents at Whitewater supplied lots of great food for them to eat. Lindsay Ann, Eric and Lucy came for lunch on Saturday. They were in town for Mr. Hammarlund's birthday, unfortunately Kendall missed the visit. Lacey and I had a good time! We fed them my homemade chicken salad and banana muffins. Lindsay Ann and Eric have been house hunting so they showed us some of their prospects. I am so excited for them. In the evening Lacey and I picked up Kendall from Whitewater and headed to Leslie's to eat dinner with her and Aidan. It had been almost 3 weeks since we last saw Aidan, his hair had grown quite a bit. Leslie made Beef Burgundy and brownies, it was yummy! We got home and watched a terrible Lifetime Movie about a high school in Massachusetts where a group of girls made a pact to get pregnant while they were still in high school. Thank goodness I was knitting while watching, or it would have really been a terrible waste of time.

Sunday was very rainy so we stayed home all day, reading, watching tv, doing homework and knitting. This week will be a busy one. I have had only one full work week since Christmas and last week I only had one class, so this week it is back to reality!

Purple

I don't why, but until now I avoided reading "The Color Purple" or seeing the movie. I am taking a southern literature class and it was assigned. Well I have to say it was an amazing story and I am glad that I was forced to read it. If you haven't read it you should. The author Alice Walker is from Eatonton, Georgia (Lindsay Ann's best friend Courtney is from there). I will be reading some more books from Georgia authors so I will let you know about those.

Long Weekend!

I've only worked one full week since December 23rd, I have gotten really spoiled, so of course I loved having another long weekend! Lacey was out of school sick Thursday and Friday with a stomach virus. By Friday evening she was feeling much better and wanted to go to Kelbe's birthday party. Usually the girls are not allowed to do anything social if they miss school, but I decided to relax the rules a little and let Lacey go. Kendall and I hung out at home.
Saturday Britta came home and Lacey had Kelbe over. Lacey, Kelbe, Britta and I went to Newnan, Kendall was not feeling well and wanted to stay home. Newnan has some cute stores, my two favorites are:

Heritage Quilts - http://www.heritagequiltsandfabrics.com/

Two Sisters Knitting - http://www.2sistersknit.com/
I am starting a new block of the month quilt. I love block of the month quilts because they are so attainable. I also bought some yarn to make Britta striped knee socks. We tried toffee from a new store on the square, but Britta's taste better. After shopping I came home and made steaks I got on sale (such a nice treat), green beans sauteed in olive oil and garlic, red potatoes cooked in the oven with Parmesan cheese and Italian spices and brocoli cornbread (Britta's request).
On Sunday Britta made her white chocolate/raspberry cake and I starting knitting a present for a baby shower I am going to this weekend. Late in the afternoon we went to the movies (another rare treat) and saw "Leap Year", it was your typical love story, but we loved it! I really like Amy Adams and who can resist a good-looking man with a foreign accent. After the movie we came home and I made Italian Sausage Tortelleni soup, one of the girls favorites and we ate some of Britta's cake.

Monday we had a lazy morning and then I went to visit my cousin Jan. She served a lovely lunch of chicken parmessan. We spent a couple of hours visiting and I helped her with her sewing machine. She just recently purchased the machine ( I helped her pick it out) and still needed a little guidence when using it.

We had dinner and then Britta had to return to Dahlonega for school the next day. I always love it when I get to spend time with my girls, especially when I get to see the ones that don't live with me anymore.

Now I get to enjoy another short work week, yay!

Freezing Yet Spring is in the Air

It's hard to believe with temps below freezing, but I started Spring Semester last night. I only have 9 more classes before I graduate, I am starting to get excited! This semester will involve lots of reading and writing, as I am taking 2 English classes and 2 Literature classes. One of my classes is children's literature, I am excited about this class, I can't wait to see what we get to read.
